BEP is a professional ecological consultancy offering first class ecologists, ecology surveys and advice for the SME, government institutions and NGOs. Our approach to survey is usually a staged one; first, a preliminary Ecological Appraisal Survey to establish the potential ecological issues and then if necessary more detailed surveys at the appropriate time of year.
Effective ecological advice that contributes towards a positive outcome in planning decisions flows from accurate and robust ecological survey information. Highly professional survey work:
- Underpins the ecological validity of any project;
- Prevents project delays resulting from requests for further information from Local Planning Authorities or Statutory Agencies;
- Provides confidence to key players, so that time is not wasted in lengthy discussions about data, but rather spent negotiating and agreeing the real issues at hand;
- Provides the information needed to design and implement effective mitigation and enhancement strategies.
We provide the following environmental services:
- Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) evaluates the potential effects of defined actions on ecosystems or their components through habitat surveys and surveys of species protected by national and European and Bulgarian legislation.
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a formal process that should be undertaken for certain development projects depending on scale, sensitivity of site, and nature of proposal. Whilst EIA covers a range of environmental issues including transport, water quality, noise, landscape etc, it is often underpinned by habitat, vegetation and protected species surveys. The process also requires effective consultation with statutory nature conservation bodies and other stakeholders.
- Environmental Management Programs (Air Quality; Waste Management; Energy Management etc) - Environmental management programs support the Municipalities Environmental Policy and the overall goal of reducing negative environmental impacts. These programs were established to assure compliance with state, and local environmental regulations. Each program includes specific requirements that are documented in the EMS Manual as well as a corresponding written plan, procedure, or instructions.
- Environmental diplomacy - Through this pillar of work, BEP seeks to promote the shared use of natural resources or common environmental threats as a platform for dialogue, confidence-building and cooperation between divided communities or countries. Upon request, BEP acts as a trusted third party in the resolution of existing and potential conflicts over natural resources and the environment by drawing on its neutrality, technical orientation and expertise in environmental cooperation.
